About 10 days ago I sent out an opinion post stating that Tommy Fleetwood of Southport, England is the best golfer ever without a PGA Tour win. Well, it did not take him long to get in the winner’s circle after my thought, and now he is a PGA Tour champion and $10 million richer. That is what happens when you win The Tour Championship in Atlanta, and in the process become the FedEx Cup champion. Fleetwood is now sixth in the world with the win.
On Sunday, Fleetwood posted a four round score of -18. In the process, he beat Americans Patrick Cantlay and Russell Henley by three strokes. Cantlay of Long Beach, California was a FedEx Cup champion in 2021.
Fleetwood had a first round score of six-under-par 64. He had seven birdies and one bogey. Fleetwood birdied the first, second, third, sixth, 12th, 15th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the 10th hole. Fleetwood had a second round score one stroke better at seven-under-par 63. He had eight birdies and one bogey. Fleetwood birdied the third, sixth, 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 17th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the 16th hole. Fleetwood’s third round score was three-under-par 67. He had seven birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey. Fleetwood birdied the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, 13th, 16th, and 17th holes, bogeyed the fourth and ninth holes, and double bogeyed the 15th hole. Then in the fourth round, Fleetwood had a score of two-under-par. He had birdies on the second, sixth, seventh, 12th and 13th holes, and bogeyed the fifth, 10th and 15th holes.
