Titans name Robert Saleh new head coach

The Tennessee Titans have named Robert Saleh of Dearborn, Michigan as their new head coach on Monday. The Titans are the second National Football League franchise Saleh has been the head coach for. He was previously the head coach of the New York Jets from 2021 to 2024. 

Saleh had a record of 20 wins and 36 losses in 56 games for a winning percentage of .357 in four seasons with the Jets. He was unable to make the playoffs in his first three seasons with the Jets, and was fired after five games while in his fourth season.

Over the years Saleh has been a veteran assistant coach. From 2005 to 2010, he was with the Houston Texans. Saleh held the roles of defensive intern, defensive quality control coach and the assistant linebackers coach. Saleh was then the defensive quality control coach with the Seattle Seahawks for three straight seasons from 2011 to 2013, the linebackers coach for three straight seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2014 to 2016, the defensive coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers for four straight seasons from 2017 to 2020, and again in 2025, and the Green Bay Packers offensive consultant in 2024.

What is interesting in Salem’s coaching career is the fact he was an offensive consultant with the Packers when he has been on the defensive side of the ball for the majority of his career as an assistant coach.  This past season, the 49ers did give up 371 points. However, the overall 49ers franchise was completely decimated with an abundance of injuries offensively and defensively.

Tennessee had a record of three wins and 14 losses in 2025. They were tied with the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals for the worst team in the NFL.
