Tiger Woods suffers multiple injuries from a car accident
February 25, 2021
Tiger Woods, one of the most iconic athletes in our generation, has suffered multiple leg injuries from a car accident in southern California, according to Emerald Bensadoun of Global News. Woods was on his way to have a photoshoot with New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert when his vehicle was involved in a rollover near Los Angeles according to Charean Williams of Yahoo! Sports.
Woods was driving northbound when he lost control of the vehicle while traveling downhill. His SUV crashed into a median, and then crossed two lanes of oncoming traffic before crashing into a tree. Many people who arrived at the scene were amazed that Woods was able to avoid any potential oncoming traffic, as southern California is one of the busiest regions for vehicle transport in the world, and that Woods was able to survive after the horrific collision. Unlike his previous car accidents, it appears that Woods was not under the influence of any substance.
After the accident, Woods was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center by ambulance, where multiple surgeries took place. He is reportedly alert.
How the accident will impact Woods’ future golf career is too early to tell. He was already recovering from back surgery to remove a disc fragment, and this surgery was putting his appearance at the Masters this season in question. Woods was at the PGA event this past weekend at Riviera, where he presented the trophy to Max Homa for winning the 2021 Genesis Invitational.
