The Plunge’s Trial Review: Horses Must Follow From Last Week’s Trials 12/3

Two 5yos that look to be at the peak of their powers coming in autumn carnival campaigns and a speedy filly that looks to have strengthened enough to run out a strong 1000m have caught my eye at the trials this week.

Rock

Rock produced an eye-catching trial when the bulky son of Pierro settled last in a field of 8 and weaved his way through traffic to scoot along the fence and in impressive fashion ahead of the talented Plaquette.

When To Bet

Expect to see Rock amongst the feature races this autumn. He may be a watch depending on where he lobs 1st up. He is undefeated from three 2nd up attempts so I’m sure the Hawkes team will have a plan to make sure he’s firing for a 2nd up assignment this autumn.

Zanzidance

Zanzidance is a speedy Deep Field 3yo filly that has impressed at the trials throughout her 5-start career but at times has struggled to run out a strong 1000m. Going back through her provincial and midweek form, she has finished behind the likes of Emanate, Peltzer and Anders.

Her win in a 900m trial at Rosehill suggests she has strengthened and is ready to finish off her races after she jumped to the lead and was challenged by Kaakit Akit. She fought back to keep that horse at bay despite it being under more pressure. The pair finished 6L ahead of the 3rd horse.

When To Bet

I would like to see her take on her grade in a Class 1 at the provincials over 1000m or even 900m if they can find a suitable race at Newcastle.

Signore Fox

Signore Fox jumped well and settled midfield in a trial at Randwick on Thursday. Tommy Berry was swinging on him at the turn and when he let him go at the 300m, he produced a strong run to win the trial.

When To Bet

The 5yo son of Exceed and Excel finished 4th behind Roheryn and Probabeel in a strong G3 Show County 1st up last preparation. The Snowden team will have a suitable race lined up for him over the next couple of weeks and he looks a good bet wherever he lands.
