The Plunge’s Trial Review: Horses Must Follow From Last Week’s Trials 11/12

Connections of Everest winner Classique Legend showcased their newest unraced talent whilst a Clare Cunningham trained 7yo dominated on a busy morning of trials at Randwick on Tuesday.

Cradle Mountain

This Clare Cunningham trained gelding looks to have returned in top order after a 5.5L trial win at Randwick on Tuesday. He has terrific first up stats (6:3-1-0) and connections look to having him wound-up for a first-up assault win twith hree trials now under his belt. Collett took him straight to the front under a solid clip and could’ve been mistaken for a statue with how still he was as he pulled away from Navy Cross and Foxborough up the straight.

Where To Now

Cradle Mountain currently has a benchmark rating of 94 and had been contesting Saturday races around that mark last prep and even won the listed Carrington Stakes at Randwick this time last year. If he is going as well as he looks, they may aim for some black type first-up and would be a decent bet in a race around the G3 or G2 mark. He’ll either go to Queensland for a summer campaign or be aimed at the Carrington again 2nd or 3rd up.

Legend Rules

It was hard to miss Legend Rules in a 735m 3yo maiden trial on Tuesday. He may not of been wearing the correct colours but this Les Bridge 3yo has close links to Everest winner Classique Legend with the Les Bridge/K Ho representation and Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle for the trial. He led all the way to run the quickest trial time at that distance of the morning and looks to have what it takes to win a maiden at his first start.

Where To Now

A midweek maiden will be the place to find him. Don’t be surprise if he doesn’t pop up anywhere as this owner often relocates them to Hong Kong when they show potential.

Rockribbed

This Maher & Eustace unraced 3yo impressed stepping out for his first-ever trial running impressive time over 1040m. He went straight to the front and showcased an impressive action when tearing away to win by 2.8L.

Where To Now

Connections may like to give him another go at the trials but look out for this guy in the midweek maidens.
