Ibaraki – Rosehill
- Race 4
- Distance 1100m
- Class: BM72 3YO
Ibaraki is a lightly raced Darci Brahma gelding from the Hawkes yard that looks to have a touch of class about him after just 2 career starts. He put a Sydney midweek field away with ease in his first ever start at Canterbury and faced the tough task of heading to Saturday grade at just his second start.
He settled towards the rear of the field from barrier 11 and at the 400m Jay Ford was forced to hook him wide where he ended up on the worst part of the track. To that point of the day, leaders close to the fence had been doing much better. Despite this he loomed up with a strong run to finish 0.4L behind The Big Easy.
Admittedly the winner did come from behind him but did have the benefit of finishing a few horses closer to the fence, which no doubt was worth at least half a length.
When To Bet
There is a BM72 for 3yos over 1200m at Randwick in a fortnight that looks perfect for him.
