The Plunge’s Saturday Review: Horses You Must Follow From Rosehill 13/3
March 15, 2021
A classy galloper with unbeaten 2nd up stats on the road to the Doncaster and a 3yo filly that rediscovered some form on a dry track are my two horses to follow from Rosehill on Saturday.
The Plunge’s Service Results:
- +25.2 units of profit since December
- 36 bets: 12 wins /11 placings
Dame Giselle
- Race 7
- Distance 1500m
- Class: G1 Coolmore Stakes
There’s no doubt that Dame Giselle has been disappointing this preparation but I loved what I saw from the 3yo filly on the weekend and I’m confident she can win a quality race this autumn if she gets conditions to suit.
She settled on a hot pace and was 2nd on the turn. The two horses inside and outside her faded to finish down the track whilst Dame Giselle tacked on hard to finish 1.7L away in 3rd.
When To Bet
It’s clear now that she needs a bone-dry track to perform against the best fillies and mares. The G2 Emancipation Stakes in a fortnight looks like the next step.
Rock
I had a keen eye on Rock on Saturday after penciling him in after a great showing at the trials 10 days ago. His unbeaten 2nd up record and my eagerness to be on the disappointing Criaderas had me waiting to see what he had to offer for next start and I liked what I saw.
On a day where nearly nothing made significant ground, Rock settled 3rd last and rattled down the outside to finish less than a length away in 3rd.
When To Bet
I can’t wait to see him 2nd up and it’ll be interesting to see where the Hawkes team lands him next. The Doncaster Prelude looks the likely step over 1500m in a fortnight’s time where he will be tough to beat on a fair track.
