The Plunge’s Saturday Review: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 10/4

An awesome Oaks trial from a filly in the Adrian Knox and a potential future star of Australian racing are the two horses to follow from Day 1 of The Championships at Randwick.

The Plunge’s Service Results:
  • +51.2 units of profit since December
  • 44 bets: 14 wins /10 placings

Bargain

  • Race 4
  • Distance 2000m
  • Class: G3 Adrian Knox Stakes 3yo fillies

The Adrian Knox is always the last chance saloon for the nation’s best staying fillies to prove their worth for the Australian Oaks and it may not be the strongest form race heading in but I was swept away with the run of Bargain.

Settling last in a big field, the Newnham trained filly unleashed a grinding run down the outside to only finish a few strides short in 2nd place.

There’s no doubt she lacks the class of high profile fillies like Montefilia, Hungry Heart or Harmony Rose, who she will face in the Oaks but what we are always sure to see in Oaks and Derbys are 3yos getting out to a tough staying distance for the first time.

A few of those more fancied runners will no doubt be found wanting over the last 100m. From what we saw Saturday, Bargain will certainly get the trip.

When To Bet

$17 in next Saturday’s Australian Oaks looks a great specking.

Anamoe

  • Race: 6
  • Distance: 1400m
  • Class: G1 Sires Produce 2yo

No ground breaking news here but these posts are all about nailing future winners and there’s plenty more in stall for this colt. Anamoe was by far the most impressive winner on the day when he accounted for the 2yo field like many punters expected. Blowing the likes of Hilal, Captivant and Four Moves Ahead away by 3L was quite the feat.

When To Bet

I can’t wait to see him return next preparation where he will no doubt be aimed at races like the Golden Rose. I’m not sure whether Godolphin will keep him in work for the G1 Champagne in a fortnight’s time where he would no doubt be odds on.
