Doomben Race 7 – Mugatoo
The $5 on offer for this Kriss Lees trained European import is just too good to resist. He is by far the best credentialed horse in the race and if he can overcome a couple of slight question marks, he should be able to show why.
He was excellent winning the All-Star Mile at Mooney Valley back in March before being very competitive in strong G1 races in the thick of the Sydney carnival. Finishing within 2L in the Doncaster and the Queen Elizabeth.
He is probably better suited over a mile than 2000m and would prefer the track stays in the soft range (will likely be upgraded to good). I heard Kris Lees say he’s as good as he has had him this week and that gives me a lot of confidence.

Rosehill Race 8 – Ellsberg
This talented 3yo has been in my black book since last campaign after he blew away a Saturday field on this out of season. He looks ready to step up to BM 88 grade, especially considering it will be against horses his own age.
He won the Listed South Pacific Stakes 1st up before finishing in the minors in the G3 Hawkesbury Guineas last start. This looks a great race for him.
