Rosehill Race 4 – Sky Command

Sky Command is a talented 3yo filly that benefits from being in the astute Portelli yard and eligible for this restricted Midway. Last prep she kicked off her career with wins at Warwick Farm and Randwick. She defeated Dragonstone in the latter victory and that horse has shown a lot since. She then failed in the G3 Rosebud before finishing 2nd at Kensington.

She has returned in nice order with two great trial performances. Most recently she cruised to the front and kicked well clear to win easily on her home track of Warwick Farm. She is no doubt better on wet surfaces which she may not get here but has still run well on dry tracks. I expect her to take up her usual forward position and have too much class for this Midway field.

Gold Coast Race 4 – Van Giz

Van Giz earned a spot in my black book after charging home from the rear to finish 3rd behind the above mentioned Dragonstone and subsequent winner De Grawin. I was keen to back her when she was nominated at Rosehill but Bjorn Baker has shown confidence in sending her to this stronger race. She should be peaking 3rd run this spell and I love the step up to 1300m.

Gold Coast Race 8 – King of Sparta

King of Sparta took his game to a new level as a 3yo during a successful spring campaign where he took on some of the countries best colts. He won at Kembla on Gong day before recording minor placings behind the likes of Home Affairs, Paulele and Geist. He returned from a spell in the Gosford Guineas with a run that really caught my eye. The tight Gosford track was never going to suit him but he did manage to loom up to Bacchanalia and looked the winner before peaking on his run. The Snowden’s have no doubt pumped the work into him for this and I really like his chances.

I also like Jamaea as a filly but am willing to take her on against the colts on equal weights and potentially coming in under done after being scratched from a wet track in her lead up race.

Tip: 2. Units Win King of Sparta @$6.5
