The Forgive, Forget and Follow Files 7/8

After the weekend of racing we assess the horses you need to forgive, forget and to follow.

Forgive

Scottish Dancer – Andrew Bobbin

12th of 14 in the 1600 metre Benchmark 84 Handicap (Flemington)

Was going for four wins on the trot over the weekend but it wasn’t to be after sitting wide for a fair portion of the race. Jumping from barrier 14 it was an ugly watch for punters with jockey Jack Hill suggesting after the race he couldn’t get any cover and the horse would be better suited to settling further back. if he draws a gate next start watch out for that powerful turn of foot we’ve seen many times this preparation.

Remarque – Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes

3rd of 9 in the 1100 metre Listed Rosebud Stakes (Randwick)

He was the obvious horse to forgive over the weekend running into a wall of horses down the straight. Berry got him out but the race was well gone with Paulele showing a devastating turn of foot to beat his rivals. Who knows Remarque might not have beaten the impressive Godolphin colt if he got a clear passage but he is definitely one to watch next start.

Forget

Red Can Man – David Brideoake

3rd of 9 in the 1410 metre Handicap (Flemington)

After starting the preparation off with a bang taking out the Group 3 John Monash Stakes he was unable to replicate that run with two mediocre runs. To be fair he has been within a length in both runs but never looked like a winning chance folding up in the last 200m on both occasions. He looked a potential Group 1 Memsie horse after his first up effort so it’ll be interesting to see where they go after the result over the weekend.

Follow

Chat – John Thompson

2nd of 7 in the 1200 metre Group 2 Missile Stakes (Rosehill)

Kicked off his preparation with a win in the July Sprint and followed that good run with a promising 2nd in the Group 2 over the weekend. He beat some quality horses in Kolding, Fasika and Viridine on Saturday and on that run he could definitely be winning a nice race or two this preparation and is one to follow.
