The Forgive, Forget and Follow Files 10/7
July 13, 2021
After the weekend of racing we assess the horses you need to forgive, forget and to follow.
ForgiveÂ
Viridine – James Cummings
6th of 11 in the 1100 metre Group 3 John Monash Stakes (Caulfield)
Went back at the start and never looked likely in a race dominated by the on speed horses. To his credit he ran on well without any threat and is one to forgive. He is a horse that generally improves 2nd up and he could look to defend his Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes title if the stable go that way.
Forget
Rubisaki – Patrick Payne Â
10th of 10 in the 1400 metre Listed Winter Stakes (Randwick)
Stiff to find herself in the forget files as she has been pretty consistent this campaign including a 3rd in the Group 1 Sangster. However, her past few runs have been a bit of a tease and after being smashed in betting on the weekend she dropped out to finish last and is becoming costly for punters. She heads to the paddock for a break and for now she is a forget.Â
Thought of That – Ciaron Maher & Dave EustaceÂ
5th of 9 in the 1700 metre Benchmark 78 (Caulfield)
The Group 3 winner hasn’t been in the winners stall in almost 2 years now and like a few runs this preparation he had every chance on Saturday. If you haven’t forgotten about him yet now is the time to say goodbye.
FollowÂ
Sky Command – Gary Portelli
1st of 10 in the 1100 metre 2YO Handicap (Randwick)Â
Her first win was impressive on the wet track at the midweeks but there was a slight query on the time. But she proved her doubters wrong and went straight to the front and couldn’t be run down. Trainer Gary Portelli seemed to have an opinion of the 2yo filly in the post race interview and is one to follow as she matures.Â
