According to Gia Nguyen of The Sports Daily on Thursday, SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California will be hosting the 2027 Super Bowl. This will be the second Super Bowl the stadium will have hosted. It previously hosted the 2022 Super Bowl, as the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in Super Bowl LVI.
SoFi Stadium is one of two National Football League stadiums that is the host venue for two NFL franchises. The Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers are shared tenants. The Rams moved to Los Angeles from St. Louis, and the Chargers moved to Los Angeles from San Diego. The other NFL stadium with multiple tenants is MetLife Stadium, which hosts the New York Giants and New York Jets.
The 2022 Super Bowl was significant because it was only the second time in NFL history that the Super Bowl champion won the title in their home stadium. The first time was in 2021, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 from Raymond James Stadium in central Florida.
The 2027 Super Bowl is one of three major sporting events coming to SoFi Stadium. The other two are the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympic Games. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is significant because it will be hosted by three different countries. Along with the United States, Canada and Mexico are hosting. When it comes to the Olympic Games, SoFi Stadium is set to host the Opening Ceremonies, and soccer. Los Angeles last hosted the Olympic Games in 1984, and before that in 1932.
The 2024 Super Bowl will be in Las Vegas. It will be followed by the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans and the 2026 Super Bowl in San Francisco.
