Six-way tie after round one at US Women’s Open

A jammed pack leaderboard is starting to be commonplace in women’s championship golf. When Mao Saigo won the Chevron Championship a month ago, she won in a playoff that featured five golfers. Now after the first round at the 2025 United States Women’s Open from Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wisconsin, there is a six-way tie for first place at -4.
Those at the top are 2020 US Women’s Open champion A-lim Kim of Seoul, South Korea, Jin Hee Im of Guri, South Korea, Yealimi Noh of San Francisco, California, Rio Takeda of Koshi, Japan, Julia Lopez Ramirez of Malaga, Spain, and Angel Yin of Los Angeles, California.
Kim had six birdies and two bogeys. She birdied the first, third, 10th, 11th, 16th, and 17th holes, and bogeyed the sixth and 12th holes. Im had four birdies and zero bogeys. She birdied the 10th, 12th, 13th, and 14th holes. Noh had three birdies, one eagle and one bogey. She birdied the second, 13th, and 18th holes, eagled the 14th hole, and bogeyed the ninth hole. Takeda had six birdies and two bogeys. She birdied the first, third, fourth, 14th, 16th and 18th holes, and bogeyed the second and 17th holes. Ramirez had four birdies and zero bogeys. She birdied the second, third, seventh, and 12th holes. Yin had six birdies and two bogeys. She birdied the eighth, ninth, 10th, 13th, 16th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the third and 17th holes.
There is a five-way tie for seventh place at -3. There you can find Nasa Hataoka of Kasama, Japan, Chisato Iwai of Saitama, Japan, Chiara Tamburlini of St. Gallen, Switzerland, Youmin Hwang of Anyang, South Korea, and Yui Kawamoto of Matsuyama, Japan.
There is a seven-way tie for 12th place at -2.
