Semifinals set for the 2025 United States Open

We now know who the four semifinalists are at the 2025 United States Open. The two women’s semifinals will be on Thursday, and the two men’s semifinals will be on Friday.
(1) Aryna Sabalenka–BLR vs. (4) Jessica Pegula–USA
Sabalenka is a three-time grand slam champion as she won the 2023 and 2024 Australian Open and 2024 United States Open. Pegula reached the 2024 United States Open final, before losing 7-5, 7-5 to Sabalenka. The Belarussian has won seven of nine meetings all-time. Sabalenka may have the advantage on Thursday as she did not have to play her quarterfinal match. Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic withdrew due to a knee injury.
(8) Amanda Anisimova–USA vs. (23) Naomi Osaka–JPN
Osaka is a four-time grand slam champion. She won the United States Open in 2018 and 2020, and the Australian Open in 2019 and 2021. Anisiomva reached the Wimbledon final earlier this year. Anisimova has beaten Osaka twice. Both times at majors. Anisimova won 4-6, 6-3. 7-6 in the third round of the 2022 Australian Open and 7-5, 6-4 in the first round of the 2022 French Open.
(1) Janik Sinner–ITA vs. (25) Felix Auger-Aliassime–CAN
Sinner is a four-time grand slam champion as he won the Australian Open and United States Open in 2024, and the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2025. This is Auger-Aliassime’s second grand slam semifinal. He participated in the 2021 United States Open semifinal. Auger-Aliassime eliminated Alex de Minaur of Australia in the quarterfinals on Wednesday in four sets. The Canadian has won two of three meetings against Sinner, but the Italian was dominant in their last meeting, as Sinner won 6-0, 6-2, in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Open.
(2) Carlos Alcaraz–ESP vs. (7) Novak Djokovic–SRB
Alcaraz is a five-time grand slam champion. He won the 2022 United States Open, 2023 and 2024 Wimbledon, 2024 French Open, and 2025 French Open. Djokovic has 24 grand slam titles–the most ever. Djokovic has won five of eight matches head-to-head all-time.
