The Seattle Seahawks have signed outside linebacker Dante Fowler Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida to a one year deal worth $5 million according to the Associated Press. The Seahawks are coming off a Super Bowl championship and are now trying to improve their defense.
Fowler is joining his sixth National Football League franchise. He previously played three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2016 to 2018), two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams (2018 and 2019), two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons (2020 and 2021), three seasons in two different stints with the Dallas Cowboys (2022, 2023, and 2025), and one season with the Washington Commanders (2024).
This past season in Dallas, Fowler Jr. had 15 combined tackles (10 solo tackles and five assisted tackles), four tackles for a loss, 10 quarterback hits, three sacks and three pass deflections.
For his career, Fowler Jr. has played in 159 NFL games. He has 294 combined tackles (202 solo tackles and 92 assisted tackles), 74 tackles for a loss, 97 quarterback hits, one pick six for 67 yards, 23 pass deflections, 15 forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries for 79 yards and two touchdowns and 58.5 sacks. The interception return for a touchdown came in a 40-7 Commanders win over the Carolina Panthers on October 20, 2024.
The Seahawks were in need of improving their defense after losing three key defenders from last season. Safety Coby Bryant of Cleveland, Ohio signed a three-year deal worth $40 million with the Chicago Bears on March 11, cornerback Tariq Woolen of Fort Worth, Texas signed a one-year deal worth $12 million with the Philadelphia Eagles on March 12, and defensive end Boye Mafe of Golden Valley, Minnesota signed a three-year contract worth $60 million with the Cincinnati Bengals on March 12.
