SA Premiership battle starting to heat up

The South Australia Metro Jockey Premiership race is starting to heat up with three metropolitan meetings to go in the 2020/2021 season.

Jessica Eaton leads the premiership race on 62 winners, three more than Todd Pannell with 59 winners.

After riding a double on Saturday at Gawler, Eaton is all the more determined to take out the premiership in her first season over in Adelaide.

“It’s certainly a privilege to be in this position, it’s not something I expected but it’s great to be in this position.

“It’s obviously down to the support I’ve been given over the last 12 months, just a surreal place to be in at the moment,” said Eaton.

Her main supporter is local trainer Michael Hickmott riding 33 winners for the stable this season with Hickmott singing her praises last weekend after their win with promising two-year-old Taunting.

Whilst for Todd Pannell, he came away from the Gawler meeting without a win but will look to finish off strongly at Morphettville where he has had the most success throughout the season.

Eaton is currently a $1.80 chance to take out the premiership ahead of Pannell at $2.00 with the three meetings to go.
