Rosehill Review: Waterhouse And Bott Burst Into Summer
December 5, 2022

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott continued their good run with a winning double at Rosehill and the promise of better results to come over the summer period.
The stable won consecutive races with Zoumon winning the Benchmark 78 over 2000 metres and Vreneli the benchmark 78 over 1200 metres.
It was a typical Waterhouse/Bott win from Zoumon who led throughout to win by a length and three-quarters over his stablemate King Of Clubs.
Although Zoumon is by sprinter Zoustar, Bott said he also had staying blood in his pedigree as his dam is bred stoutly being by German sire Monsun.
“He’s got that staying ability, even though he’s by Zoustar, on that female side he can certainly stay,” Bott said after the win.

“He ran great in the Derby. He’d had a pretty long prep at that time and stuck on well. A few of those in the Derby had a bit more brilliance than him, but he’s a nice, tough stayer and he will keep going through his grades and improving.”
Bott said a possible program for Zoumon was the Summer Cup (2000m) at Randwick on Boxing Day and then the Magic Millions Subzero (2200m) at the Gold Coast on January 14.
Bott was pleased with former European galloper King Of Clubs first-up run to finish second to Zoumon which was his best run since coming to Australia.
