According to the Associated Press on Thursday, National Football League kicker Robbie Gould of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania announced his retirement at the age of 41 after 18 seasons in the league. He played 11 seasons with the Chicago Bears (2005 to 2015), one season with the New York Giants (2016), and six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers (2017 to 2022).

In 266 games, Gould made 447 field goals in 517 attempts for a field goal percentage of 86.5%. He also made 620 of 636 converts for a convert percentage of 97.5%.

Gould was selected to the Pro Bowl once in his career. That was back in 2006 with the Bears when he led the NFL in field goals made with 32. Gould also led the NFL in field goals made with a career single season high 39 while with the 49ers in the 2017 season. Gould’s 97.1% field goal percentage led the NFL in 2018. However, that was not a career high as he made all 10 field goal attempts with the Giants in 2016.

Gould’s longest field goal was 58 yards. That came on September 8, 2013 in a 24-21 Bears win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The 58-yarder was a Bears franchise record. The NFL record belongs to Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens. The native of Houston, Texas made a 66-yard field goal on September 26, 2021 in a 19-17 Ravens win over the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

At the time of his retirement, Gould is the all-time scoring leader in Chicago Bears history (1207 points). He also holds the Bears franchise record for most field goals made (276), most field goals made of 50+ yards (23), kickoffs (829), kickoff yards (51731). Gould also made all 29 field goal attempts in the postseason.
