The Detroit Pistons traded center Isaiah Stewart of Rochester, New York to the Memphis Grizzlies according to Sam Quinn of CBS Sports on Wednesday. Stewart is joining his second NBA franchise after six seasons with the Pistons. In return, the Pistons are receiving three second round picks (2029, 2031, and 2032).
In 2025-26, Stewart averaged 10 points per game, five rebounds per game, and 1.1 assists per game. He had a field goal percentage of .550, three point percentage of .333 and a free throw percentage of .756.
Stewart is considered an effective player off the bench. He was seventh in voting when it came to the Sixth Man Player of the Year in 2025-26.
In 2020, Stewart was initially drafted 16th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers out of the University of Washington. However, Stewart never played for Portland as he was traded from the Trail Blazers to the Houston Rockets on November 22, 2020, in a deal that saw small forward Trevor Ariza of Miami, Florida go from Portland to Houston and center Robert Covington of Bellwood, Illinois go from Houston to Portland. However, Stewart never played for the Rockets either. That is because Stewart and Ariza were on the move together again. On November 24, Ariza and Stewart were traded from the Rockets to the Pistons in a deal that saw power forward Christian Wood of Long Beach, California go from the Pistons to the Rockets.
This past season, Stewart made NBA headlines because he was suspended for seven games. He was in an altercation with Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets.
