For the second time this season, an elite defensive player in the National Football League left the Dallas Cowboys for the Green Bay Packers. Prior to the season, the Cowboys traded defensive end Micah Parsons of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the Packers. Then on Wednesday, the Packers claimed cornerback Trevon Diggs of Gaithersburg, Maryland off waivers after he was released outright by the Cowboys on Tuesday.Â
Diggs is joining his second National Football League franchise. He played the last six seasons with the Cowboys. In 2025, Diggs had 25 combined tackles (18 solo tackles and seven assisted tackles), and one tackle for a loss.
Twice Diggs was selected to the Pro Bowl in his NFL career. The first time came in 2021 and the second time came in 2022. In 2021, Diggs led the NFL interceptions (11), yards from interceptions (142), and pick sixes (two). He also had 21 pass deflections, and 52 combined tackles (43 solo tackles and nine assisted tackles). In 2021, both of Diggs’s pick sixes came in Cowboys wins. The first came for 59 yards in a 41-21 Cowboys win over the Philadelphia Eagles on September 27, 2021. The second came for 42 yards in a 35-29 Cowboys overtime win over the New England Patriots.
In 2022, Diggs had 59 combined tackles (50 solo tackles and nine assisted tackles). He also had three interceptions for 10 yards, 14 pass deflections and and one fumble recovery for 17 yards. The fumble recovery came in a 27-23 Cowboys win over the Houston Texans on December 11, 2022.
The Packers are postseason bound. They will be the seventh seed. Their current record is nine wins, six losses and one tie.
