Free Agent Signings
The Commanders signed eight free agents in the offseason, They are defensive end Odafe Oweh of Hackensack, New Jersey, tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo of Powder Springs, Georgia, linebacker Leo Chenal of Grantsburg, Wisconsin, defensive tackle Tim Settle of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, cornerback Amik Robertson of Thiobodeaux, Louisiana, safety Nick Cross of Bowie, Maryland, defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson of Houston, Texas, and wide receiver Stefon Diggs of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Oweh signed a four-year contract worth $100 million with the Washington Commanders on March 9. He spent his first four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and shared last year with the Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers. In 2025, Oweh had 38 combined tackles (20 solo tackles and 18 assisted tackles), 18 quarterback hits, nine tackles for a loss, and 7.5 sacks.
Okonkwo signed a three-year deal worth $30 million with the Washington Commanders after four seasons with the Tennessee Titans. In 2025, he had 56 catches for 560 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Chenal signed a three-year deal worth $24.75 million with the Commanders after four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. While in Kansas City, Chenal won Super Bowls in 2023 and 2024. In 2025, Chenal had 10 combined tackles (seven solo tackles and three assisted tackles), and one tackle for a loss.
Settle signed a three-year contract worth $23.5 million with the Commanders on March 9. He previously played four seasons with Washington from 2018 to 2021, before two seasons each with the Buffalo Bills (2022 to 2023), and two seasons with the Houston Texans (2024 to 2025). In 2025, Settle had 15 combined tackles (six solo tackles and nine assisted tackles), three tackles for a loss, one quarterback hit, three pass deflections and one sack. The quarterback hit and sack came in a 23-19 Texans win over the Buffalo Bills on November 20.
Robertson signed a two-year contract worth $15 million with the Commanders on March 9. He is joining his third NFL team after four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders (2020 to 2023), and the last two seasons with the Detroit Lions (2024 to 2025). In 2025 with Detroit, Robertson had 52 combined tackles (43 solo tackles and nine assisted tackles), two tackles for a loss, one interception for two yards, 12 pass deflections and two forced fumbles. The interception came in a 37-24 Lions win over the Cincinnati Bengals on October 5. The first forced fumble came in a 24-9 Lions win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 20, and the second forced fumble came in a 34-27 Lions overtime win over the New York Giants on November 23.
Cross signed a two-year contract worth $13 million on March 11. He played the last four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. In 2025, Cross had 120 combined tackles (72 solo tackles and 48 assisted tackles), five tackles for a loss, six quarterback hits, one interception, five pass deflections and one forced fumble. The interception came in a 38-24 Colts win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Chaisson signed a one-year contract worth $11 million on March 13. He is is joining his fourth NFL team after four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2020 to 2023) and one season each with the Las Vegas Raiders (2024) and New England Patriots (2025). In 2025, Chaisson had 31 combined tackles (18 solo tackles and 13 assisted tackles), 10 tackles for a loss, 18 quarterback hits, two pass deflections, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery for a touchdown for for four yards and 7.5 sacks.
The fumble recovery for four yards and a touchdown came in a 31-13 Patriots win over the Tennessee Titans on October 19. The first fumble recovery came in a 24-23 Patriots win over the Atlanta Falcons on November 2. The first pass deflection came in a 27-14 Patriots win over the New York Jets on November 13. The second forced fumble came in a 28-24 Patriots win over the Baltimore Ravens on December 21, and the second pass deflection came in a 42-10 Patriots win over the Jets on December 29.
Diggs is joining his fifth NFL team after five seasons with the Minnesota Vikings from 2015 to 2019, four seasons with the Buffalo Bills from 2020 to 2023, and one season each with the Houston Texans (2024) and New England Patriots (2025). With the Bills, Diggs was selected to the Pro Bowl for four straight seasons from 2020 to 2023. In 2020, he led the NFL with 127 receptions and 1535 receiving yards. This past season with the Patriots, Diggs had 85 catches for 1013 receiving yards and four touchdown catches.
