Our three best tips for the Masters
April 10, 2025

This is a very special weekend in golf. The Masters begins Thursday from Augusta, Georgia. This major has taken place annually since 1934 when Horton Smith of Springfield, Missouri won the very first title. Here are the three golfers we like the most this week.
Scottie Scheffler
It should be no surprise that Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey is one of two golfers who are in the pluses at +400. He has won two of the last three Masters tournaments as he won the titles in 2022 and 2024. Three years ago, he had a winning score of -10, and beat Rory McIlroy of Holywood, Northern Ireland by three strokes. Then last year, Scheffler got into the double digits under par again with a winning score of -11 and beat Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg by four strokes. The world number one is entering the first major of the season with significant momentum. Scheffler finished in second place at the Houston Open in late March, and only lost to Australia’s Min Woo Lee.
Rory McIroy
It is a very good chance that the world number two wins his fourth different major on Sunday, joining a list that includes Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Gene Sarazen. McIlroy (+650) has won two PGA Championships, one British Open and one United States Open in his career. In 2025, McIlroy is the only golfer who has won multiple times. He won at Pebble Beach and the Players Championship.
Jon Rahm
We have seen a trend the last two years. A player on LIV has won a major. Brooks Koepka won the 2023 PGA Championship and Bryson DeChambeau won the 2024 United States Open. Before joining the LIV Tour himself, Rahm (+1300) won two major titles. He won the 2021 United States Open and 2023 Masters.
