Our three best tips for 2025 Valero Texas Open
April 3, 2025

The Valero Texas Open takes place this weekend in San Antonio. The tournament is significant because it is the final PGA event before the first major of the year, the Masters.
Corey Conners
The pride of Listowel, Ontario has literally been linked to the Valero Texas Open over the last six years. He was the winner of the tournament in 2019, where he beat Charley Hoffman by two strokes and again in 2023 where he beat Sam Stevens by a stroke. To put Conners’s success at the Valero Texas Open into perspective, these are the only two PGA tournaments he has won in his career. Speaking of Hoffman, he has not had his luck when going head-to-head versus Canadians over the years. He also lost to Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba in a playoff at the WM Phoenix Open in 2024.
Ludvig Aberg
The betting favourite at 12-1, Aberg is fifth in the world. The native of Eslov, is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour. He won the 2023 RSM Classic in St. Simons Island, Georgia and the 2025 Genesis Invitational in San Diego, California. When Aberg won on the PGA Tour two years ago, he posted an impressive score of -29. There was a Canadian connection here too as Mackenzie Hughes of Hamilton, Ontario was in second place at -25.
Tommy Fleetwood
There is a growing belief in the golf world that Tommy Fleetwood is finally ready to win on the PGA Tour. He has won seven times, but all on the European Tour. Once again, there is a Canadian connection to him. Fleetwood’s best PGA Tour result was losing in a playoff to Taylor at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open.
