Our Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Caulfield 15/7
July 17, 2023
Our form analyst has looked over the replays & sectional times from flemington on Saturday and has placed his list of horses you must follow below.
ARCHO NARCHO
Enormous run from the two-year-old gelding to finish second behind Exploring. Stewards noted he bounded at the start and was slow to begin. He was then held up for clear running between the 400m and the 300m and then had to shift across heels. When he got into the open he produced the fastest last 400m for the day of 21.83 seconds and also for the 200 metres of 11.19 seconds.
COSMIC ENIGMA
Slightly unlucky second placing behind Albanian I Am as he was checked at the 550 metres mark which caused him to be shuffled right back. His last 200 metres was .53 seconds faster than any of his rivals getting home in 11.77 seconds.
HE’LL RIP
Very little went right for him. He was forced to race wide without cover and then had to eased at the 350 metres mark which knocked out any winning chance he had. Despite this he still worked to the line nicely to finish seventh.
ZED OR ALIVE
Raced greenly and wasn’t suited by the on and off again speed in the 1800 metres staying race. He also proved a handful for Carleen Hefel at his debut. Despite the son of Zed still finished off in the style of a nice staying prospect.
FLOATING ARTIST
Top stayer on the comeback trail and he looks as if he’s still got a lot to offer judging by his first-up fifth behind Young Werther where he settled well back and worked home well striding out in good style over the last 200 metres. He also covered five more metres in the run than the winner.
