RACING: Wyong Best Selection & Value Play 18/3
March 18, 2026
Midweek Sydney racing heads to Wyong for a rare Metro meeting. Our analyst likes a Matthew Smith gelding bringing some superior form lines and a Waller stayer as the value play.Â

Best Selection: R4- Wondereach
The Matthew Smith gelding appeals dropping back in grade and bringing the top 4 rated runs amongst this field over the last 2 years. He has 5 wins over 1000m, which is always a positive over this trip. He had excuses when being slow into stride when 2.9L 5th behind Kerguelen at Rosehill last start. His 1.6L 3rd to Bev’s Nine at Rosehill 3 starts back. I like the booking of Nash on a track that may take some nuance with rain about.Â

Value Selection: R5- Golden Century
Golden Century was poor 1st up but I’m expecting big improvement dropping back in grade and getting out to 2100m. He really clicked into gear in his 2nd career prep recording big wins at Canterbury and Kembla that rated well on the clock. Waller has had recent success sending his horses to the trials between 1st and 2nd up runs suggesting that there is improvement to come. J Mac sticks and I expect them to be more positive out of the gates on the smaller Wyong track.Â
