Dragons fire to hand Wests Tigers 9th loss in a row
Things went from bad to worse for the Wests Tigers at WIN Stadium on Friday night with the Dragons handing them a 56-14 loss thanks in large part to Zac Lomax’s club-record points haul.
The visitors got off to a hot start finding themselves up 10-0 early courtesy of tries to Alex Lobb and Jayden Sullivan and even managed a two-point lead into the sheds.
The second half however was all Dragons with Shane Flanagan’s men laying on 44 unanswered points to race home to a big win.
Lomax finished with three tries and 10 goals whilst Luciano Leilua and Mathew Feagai both snagged doubles.
Just 48 hours on from Origin, Lomax scored a hat-trick and ran for 189 metres whilst Ben Hunt scored a try, assisted on three others, and kicked for 484 metres.
Rabbitohs take down Titans, snag back-to-back wins
The Rabbitohs ran riot to down the Titans 46-12 on the Gold Coast on Saturday afternoon behind a Cody Walker double.
The visitors took a 16-point lead into the break thanks to Latrell Mitchell, Jacob Gagai, Richard Kennar and Walker four-pointers.
A Walker vs. David Fifita mono e mono clash brought some spice into the clash in the second half, but it did little to curtail the Rabbits’ attack with Thomas Burgess, Davvy Moale, and Jack Wighton all nabbing tries before Walker grabbed a second.
Walker scored two, assisted on one, and ran for 125 metres with five tackle breaks whilst Mitchell scored a try, assisted on three others, and ran for 135 metres.
Alofiana Khan-Pereira scored a try and ran for 216 metres whilst Fifita scored a try and ran for 168 metres with seven tackle breaks.
Warriors storm past Cows for 3rd-straight victory
Bolstered by the return of a collection of stars, the Warriors took down a sluggish Cowboys unit 42-12 in Townsville on Saturday evening.
Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Addin Fonua-Blake, Mitchell Barnett and Rocco Berry all crossed in the first 40 to give the visitors a 22-6 halftime lead.
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak joined them on the scoresheet in the second half before Nicoll-Klokstad and Berry grabbed late doubles.
Nicoll-Klokstad scored two and ran for 251 metres whilst Fonua-Blake scored a try and ran for 207 metres with six tackle breaks.
Jason Taumalolo ran for 157 metres and made 26 tackles without a miss whilst Scott Drinkwater scored a try and ran for 136 metres.
Sharks power past Broncos to end skid
A barnstorming second half led the Sharks to a 22-12 win over the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
The hosts took a 12-4 lead into the sheds courtesy of tries to Patrick Carrigan and Tyson Smoothy before momentum firmly shifted after the break.
Sione Katoa, Braydon Trindall, and Blayke Brailey all crossed for the Sharks in the space of seven minutes before the scoring dried up however it was enough for Craig Fitzgibbon’s men to seal the victory.
Katoa scored a try and ran for 160 metres with 13 tackle breaks whilst Siosifa Talakai scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for 120 metres with five tackle breaks.
Carrigan scored a try, ran for 153 metres, and made 48 tackles whilst Jock Madden assisted on a try and kicked for 655 metres.
Storm outlast Knights in AAMI Park shootout
The Storm finished atop the Knights 36-28 in a high-scoring affair in the Victorian capital on Sunday afternoon.
Tries to Dylan Lucas and debutant Fletcher Sharpe put the visitors ahead early before quick tries to Jahrome Hughes and Nick Meaney put the Storm up heading into the break.
Lucas grabbed a second before three Storm tries – two to Wishart and one to Coates – in the space of just 12 minutes gave them some breathing room.
Late tries to Dane Gagai and Enari Tuala were not enough to get the Knights over the line as the hosts held on for an eight-point win.
Hughes scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for 102 metres whilst Meaney scored a double and ran for 118 metres.
Gagai scored a try and ran for 246 metres with eight tackle breaks whilst Lucas scored a double and ran for 198 metres with eight tackle breaks.
To’o hat-trick leads Panthers over Manly
A scintillating Brian To’o performance lead the Panthers over the Sea Eagles 32-22 at BlueBet Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The first half scoreboard made for unique reading with To’o and Tommy Talau both nabbing hat-tricks and four of the six combined conversions missed as the hosts took a 16-12 lead into the sheds.
Sunia Turuva nabbed a double and Liam Henry crashed over to give the Panthers a handy buffer with Talau’s fourth, and a Jason Saab try proving not enough as Penrith held on for the win.
To’o scored three and ran for 261 metres with 13 tackle breaks whilst Daine Laurie scored a try and ran for 344 metres with nine tackle breaks in a stunning performance filling in for Dylan Edwards.
Talau scored four and ran for 194 metres whilst Reuben Garrick assisted on a try and ran for 209 metres with six tackle breaks.
Dogs pip Eels in Monday thriller
A 74th-minute Blake Wilson try proved the difference as the Bulldogs came from behind to down the Eels 22-18 at Accor Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Both teams scored twice in the opening 40 – Stephen Crichton and Wilson for the Bulldogs and Blaize Talagi and Will Penisini for the Eels – with the visitors taking a two-point lead into the sheds.
A Kelma Tuilagi try on the other side of the break put the Eels up by eight before the Dogs withstood a Kurt Mann sin bin to eat into the deficit courtesy of Crichton’s second.
Connor Tracey sliced through to send Wilson over late as the Dogs earnt a famous victory.
Crichton scored two, assisted on another, and ran for 148 metres whilst Wilson scored a double and ran for 230 metres with nine tackle breaks.
Clint Gutherson assisted on a try and ran for 134 metres whilst Tuilagi scored a try, ran for 138 metres, and made 24 tackles.
