Dogs blow out leaky Dragons at Homebush

The Dragons’ second half issues continued on Thursday night with Shane Flanagan’s men falling to the Bulldogs 44-12 at Accor Stadium.

Despite losing Hame Sele and Jack Bird to injuries in the opening 40, the visitors took a six-point lead into the sheds courtesy of tries to Moses Suli and Jacob Liddle.

The second half belonged to the Dogs however with Cameron Ciraldo’s side pouring on 38 unanswered points with Jaeman Salmon, Jacob Kiraz, and Matt Burton all finishing with doubles.

Kiraz scored two and ran for 259 metres with six tackle breaks whilst Burton scored two and kicked for 411 metres.

Jack de Belin ran for 159 metres with five tackle breaks and made 41 tackles whilst Liddle scored a try and made a game-high 49 tackles.

Cowboys too strong for struggling Wests Tigers

The Cowboys overcame a first half Valentine Holmes sin bin to come out on top of the Wests Tigers 42-26 in Townsville on Friday evening.

Despite the bin, they took a 20-10 lead into the sheds courtesy of a Kyle Feldt double and a Jeremiah Nanai try.

Samuela Fainu crossed early in the second half to drag the visitors back into it only for Sam McIntyre, Valentine Holmes, and Nanai to seal it for the Cows.

Holmes scored two and ran for 220 metres with half a dozen tackle breaks whilst Scott Drinkwater assisted on three tries and ran for 176 metres.

Manly take down Storm at 4 Pines in Friday night showdown

The Sea Eagles are back in the winners’ circle having finished atop the Storm 26-20 in a nailbiter at 4 Pines Park on Friday night.

Tries in quick succession to Ben Trbojevic and Tommy Talau saw the hosts jump out to an early lead before Eliesa Katoa crossed just shy of the break to eat into the deficit.

A seesawing second half saw both sides trade blows with Jahrome Hughes’ 74th-minute four-pointer setting up a grandstand finish only for Manly to hold on.

Talau scored two tries and ran for 113 metres with five tackle breaks whilst debutant Lehi Hopoate assisted on a try and ran for 132 metres with four tackle breaks.

Sualauvi Fa’alogo assisted on a try and ran for 212 metres whilst Hughes scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for 152 metres.

Tedesco, Roosters sizzle in nation’s capital

The Roosters proved far too strong for the Raiders running out 44-16 victors at GIO Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Tries to Victor Radley and Luke Keary in the opening 10 minutes saw the visitors get off to a red-hot start with a 35th-minute Joseph Manu four-pointer earning them an 18-6 halftime lead.

The floodgates opened in the second half for the Tricolours with Manu and James Tedesco both securing doubles along with tries to Angus Crichton and Joseph-Aukuso Sua’ali’i.

Tedesco scored two, assisted on three others, and ran for 153 metres with nine tackle breaks whilst Manu scored a double and ran for 173 metres with four tackle breaks.

Hudson Young scored a try, ran for 115 metres, and made 33 tackles whilst Joseph Tapine ran for 175 metres and made 30 tackles.

Panthers topple ladder leaders in Saturday night statement

Penrith made a rattling statement on Saturday evening in the Shire obliterating the ladder-leading Sharks 42-0.

A fearsome opening saw the defending champs earn a 28-0 lead heading into the sheds with James Fisher-Harris, Jarome Luai, Paul Alamoti, Dylan Edwards and Jack Cole all snagging tries.

Cronulla managed to slow the scoring down a little but the damage had been done with tries to Liam Henry and Scott Sorensen seeing the Panthers march home with a decisive win.

Edwards scored a try and ran for 250 metres with seven tackle breaks whilst Luai scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for 124 metres with nine tackle breaks.

Rabbitohs down Eels, grab second win of year

The Rabbits put an end to their six-game losing streak with a 42-26 win over the Eels at Accor Stadium on Saturday night.

The hosts found themselves up 22-0 early with Jai Arrow, Keaon Koloamatangi, Dion Teaupa and Alex Johnston all notching quick tries before the Eels wrestled back some ascendancy via tries to Blaize Talagi and Sean Russell.

A Morgan Harper try on the other side of the break with Latrell Mitchell in the bin made things even tighter before tries to Sean Keppie, Damien Cook, and Koloamatangi sealed it for the Bunnies.

Koloamatangi scored two and ran for 231 metres with nine tackle breaks whilst Mitchell assisted on a trio of tries and ran for 115 metres.

Talagi scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for 145 metres with five tackle breaks whilst Maika Sivo scored two and ran for 162 metres with eight tackle breaks.

Titans beat Broncos in Sunday arvo shootout

The Titans pulled off a famous 36-34 win over big brothers Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday afternoon to stay off the bottom of the ladder.

The Broncos took an eight-point lead into the break thanks to tries to Payne Haas, Corey Oates, Deine Mariner and Brendan Piakura before the Titans stormed ahead courtesy of a four-try, 21-minute period in which Chris Randall, Keenan Palasia, Brian Kelly and Alofiana Khan-Pereira crossed.

Selwyn Cobbo notched a 74th-minute four-pointer to make for a nervous finish but Des Hasler’s men held on for a determined victory.

Keano Kini assisted on two tries and ran for 265 metres whilst David Fifita assisted on two and ran for 233 metres with six tackle breaks.

Reece Walsh assisted on two tries and ran for 184 metres with seven tackle breaks whilst Payne Haas ran for 228 metres and made 42 tackles.

Injury-ravaged Warriors survive Dolphins, snag back-to-back wins

Despite missing double-digit players to injury or suspension, the Warriors pulled off a 24-20 win over the Dolphins in Auckland on Sunday.

The Dolphins jumped out to an early 10-point lead via tries to stars Jamayne Isaako, Herbie Farnworth, and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow before the hosts clawed their way back into it.

Te Maire Martin crossed a half-hour in before Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Marata Niukore scored to put them ahead with Isaako snagging a second late that proved not enough.

Watene-Zelezniak scored a try and ran for 205 metres at fullback whilst Mitch Barnett ran for 174 metres and made 24 tackles.

Farnworth scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for 198 metres with 13 tackle breaks whilst Tabuai-Fidow scored a try and ran for 160 metres.
