Raiders edge Wests Tigers in frantic thriller at Campbelltown
Ricky Stuart’s Raiders have now won seven of their past eight after narrowly surviving a last-ditch Wests Tigers onslaught to win 20-19 at Campbelltown on Friday night.
A Jamal Fogarty double helped the Raiders jump out to an 18-0 lead early in the second half as they looked to go on with it before a 67th-minute Tom Starling sin bin resulted in a Wests Tigers avalanche.
Jahream Bula, John Bateman, and Brandon Wakeham all crossed for tries in the space of four minutes as Tim Sheens’ men tied it at 18 entering the final stages.
A Luke Brooks field goal gave the Wests Tigers an unlikely lead with five minutes to play before Fogarty was taken out in the process of attempting a match-tying field goal and rewarded with a gift two points.
For Canberra, Fogarty scored a double and assisted on another to go along with 612 kick metres whilst Joseph Tapine ran for 146 metres and made 44 tackles.
Jahream Bula’s phenomenal start to his NRL career continued with the 21-year-old scoring a try, making two line breaks, and running for a game-high 245 metres whilst Bateman scored a try, ran for 150 metres with four tackle breaks, and made a game-high 46 tackles.
Warriors too strong for Dolphins in Auckland
The Warriors are back in the top eight after finishing atop the Dolphins 30-8 in Auckland on Saturday.
The visitors trailed just 6-4 heading into the break after a gutsy opening half before the floodgates opened for Andrew Webster’s Warriors.
Shaun Johnson grabbed his second try before halves partner Luke Metcalf joined the try-scorers’ list two minutes later and a Dallin Watene-Zelezniak double ballooned the lead late.
Johnson was superb scoring two and running for 127 metres with five tackle breaks whilst Addin Fonua-Blake ran for 195 metres from 19 carries and made 30 tackles without a miss.
For the Dolphins, Jamayne Isaako scored a late try, made four line breaks, and ran for 278 metres with nine tackle breaks whilst Kodi Nikorima assisted on a try and ran for 154 metres at the back.

Rabbitohs survive Titans in points fest on the Gold Coast
South Sydney are back in the winners’ circle thanks to a 46-28 win over the Titans on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Both sides snagged a pair of tries in the opening 16 minutes before the Titans managed to carry a six-point lead into the intermission.
A trio of Souths tries in the space of 12 minutes gave them a 10-point buffer before tries to Richie Kennar and Hame Sele put the result beyond doubt late.
Cody Walker scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for 122 metres with four tackle breaks whilst Keaon Koloamatangi scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for 146 metres.
For the Titans, Moeaki Fotuaika and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui combined for 321 run metres from 31 carries and 67 tackles.
Broncos prevail against Sharks in top four showdown
Back-to-back wins has the Broncos back in second on the ladder after proving too strong for the Sharks 20-12 in the Shire on Saturday night.
The Broncos took a 14-6 lead into the break thanks to late tries to Ezra Mam and Jesse Arthars.
Herbie Farnworth crossed in the 67th minute to seal things for Kevin Walters’ men as the Sharks dropped to 0-5 against top eight sides this season.
For Brisbane, Corey Oates finished with a try assist, three line breaks, and a game-high 237 run metres whilst Kotoni Staggs scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for 222 metres with eight tackle breaks.
Nicho Hynes assisted on a try and four line breaks to go along with 156 run metres whilst William Kennedy scored a try and ran for 212 metres.
Keary field goal wills Roosters to tough win over Dogs
The Roosters snapped a three-game slide with a narrow 25-24 win over the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon in Gosford with a Luke Keary one-pointer all that could separate the sides.
Canterbury leaped out to an early 12-0 lead thanks to tries to Tevita Pangai Jr. and Reed Mahoney before the Roosters answered with a pair of James Tedesco tries in the space of five minutes.
Tries to Junior Pauga and Joseph-Aukuso Sua’ali’i as well as a Josh Addo-Carr double tied the game entering the final 10 before a 74th-minute Keary field goal iced it for the Tricolours.
The Roosters were led by Tedesco’s double, try assist, and 200 run metres with 11 tackle breaks whilst Keary assisted on try, kicked the game-winning field goal, and made 18 tackles without a miss.
For Canterbury, Addo-Carr scored two and assisted on another to go along with 168 run metres whilst Pangai Jr. scored a try, ran for a team-high 191 metres, and made 21 tackles.

Cowboys pour on 45 points, stun Storm
The Cowboys ran rampant in a shock 45-20 win over the Storm in Townsville on Sunday afternoon behind a Semi Valemei hat-trick on club debut.
Valemei crossed twice in the opening eight minutes as the sides traded blows throughout the first half to go into the sheds tied at 14-apiece.
Five Cowboys tries in the space of 28 minutes – including a Murray Taulagi double – opened the game wide open as they surged towards their highest ever score against the Storm.
Valentine Holmes scored a try, assisted on two others, and ran for 179 metres with eight tackle breaks whilst Valemei scored three and ran for 159 run metres with six tackle breaks.
For Melbourne, Nick Meaney scored a try and assisted on two others.
Panthers overcome Cleary injury to pip Dragons
Despite being without Nathan Cleary for over three quarters of the game and falling behind early, the Panthers managed to outlast the Dragons 26-18 at BlueBet Stadium on Sunday night.
A first-half Mikaele Ravalawa double had the Dragons up 12-6 with half-time approaching before Brian To’o grabbed his second of the first half off a deft, early-set kick on the stroke of the break.
Tries to Sunia Turuva and Zac Lomax had it tied heading into the final stretch before a 70th-minute Moses Leota four-pointer sealed it for the hosts.
Isaah Yeo assisted on the match-winning try, ran for 135 metres, and made 41 tackles whilst Dylan Edwards ran for 196 metres with four tackle breaks.
For the Dragons, Ravalawa scored a double and ran for a team-high 174 metres with five tackle breaks whilst Ben Hunt assisted on two tries and kicked for 567 metres.
