Five storylines from Super Bowl LV
February 8, 2021
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are Super Bowl champions. On Sunday, the Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 for their second Super Bowl championship in franchise history. Here are five storylines of the biggest game of the season.
5) Harrison Butker recorded all nine of the Chiefs points. No one would have expected the Chiefs kicker to score all nine of Kansas City’s points,  but that is what happened on Sunday. Butker had field goals of 49, 34 and 52 yards.
4) Buccaneers defense was electrifying. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was pressured the entire night. He had two interceptions to Antoine Winfield Jr. and Devin White, and was pressured a Super Bowl record 29 times according to ESPN. Tom Brady meanwhile, was only pressured four times.
3) Chiefs were completely undisciplined. Kansas City took 11 penalties for 120 yards and Tampa Bay had four penalties for 39 yards. The Chiefs had two key pass interference penalties right before halftime, which led to a 1-yard touchdown pass from Brady to Antonio Brown.

2) Rob Gronkowski scored two touchdowns. In the first half, Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski caught touchdown passes of eight and 17 yards. In the process, he becomes the second player in NFL history to have multiple touchdown catches for one game in two Super Bowls. The other player on the list happens to be the iconic Jerry Rice.
1)The legend of Tom Brady continues. For the fifth time in his career Tom Brady was a Super Bowl MVP. Brady, who has won seven Super Bowls, had three touchdown passes. Brady now has 21 touchdown passes in the Super Bowl in his career, 10 more than the player second on the list, Joe Montana, who has 11.
