NFL Weekly Preview Week 6: Key Injuries, Player Statistical Projections & Projected Upsets Rashaad Penny (YouTube)

The sixth week of the National Football League season is upon us. The Philadelphia Eagles remain the only undefeated team, and enter week six at 5-0. Their game on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys in Philadelphia will be for first place in the NFC East, as the Cowboys are 4-1.Here are some key injuries, player statistical projections and projected upsets.

Key Injuries

The most significant injury from week five came in the game between the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints. That is when Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny broke his leg and had multiple ligament tears which required ankle surgery. The 26-year-old had 346 rushing yards in five games, and now will be replaced in the lineup by rookie Kenneth Walker III.

Another player who had a season-ending injury on Sunday was San Francisco 49ers cornerback Emmanuel Moseley, who tore his ACL against the Carolina Panthers. Also in the Panthers/49ers game on Sunday, Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield suffered a high ankle sprain and is expected to be out anywhere from two to six weeks.

In New England, running back Damien Harris could be out up to three weeks with a hamstring injury. This will mean more playing time for Rhamondre Stevenson. Join Our Competition Club Here

Player Statistical Projections

At quarterback, Josh Allen is expected to once again have a monster week. Against a vulnerable Kansas City Chiefs secondary, he is projected to get 291 passing yards, 41 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

At running back, Austin Ekeler had a career-high 173 yards rushing last week for the Los Angeles Chargers in their 30-28 win over the Cleveland Browns. This week, the Chargers are facing the underachieving Denver Broncos. Ekeler is projected to record 103 total yards and a touchdown.

At wide receiver, Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams is questionable with a foot injury. The next best wideout is Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, who is projected to catch seven passes for 103 yards and one touchdown this weekend against the Miami Dolphins.

Projected Upsets

There are three teams who I like this week to deliver with the W–the Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys. We all know how great Josh Allen is, but Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is really good too. Don’t forget, the Bills struggled as a unit in Miami, and the Chiefs are better than the Dolphins.

The Seahawks have been great offensively so far this season with Geno Smith exceeding expectations. Prior to the season, the Cardinals would have been the heavy favourite, but there is no doubt Arizona is missing wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who is out one more week for taking a banned substance.

The third team I like this week are the Cowboys. Yes, the Eagles are 5-0, but just squeaked out a win last week over Arizona. The reason I like Dallas is because of their defense, which has been strong in recent weeks.
