We begin the sixth week of the 2025 NFL regular season on Thursday. Here are the key injuries, fantasy stars and projected upsets.
Key Injuries
Among players who were injured in week five include Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton (ankle), and New England Patriots running back Antonio Gibson (torn anterior cruciate ligament). Hampton is expected to be out one month, while Gibson is gone for the year.
This has been the second significant injury to a Chargers running back this season. Earlier this season, Najee Harris had season ending Achilles injury. With Hampton out, it is expected Hassan Haskins of St. Louis, Missouri, and Kimani Vidal of Atlanta, Georgia will split the Chargers workload.
Difference Makers
The top rated quarterback is Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders. On Monday night against the Chicago Bears, Daniels is projected to get 228 yards passing, 52 yards rushing and two touchdowns. The top rated wide receiver is Puka Nakua of the Los Angeles Rams. On Sunday, Nakua will be facing the Baltimore Ravens, who are struggling mightily defensively at this time. In order to improve their defense, the Ravens made a trade this past week with the Chargers. Baltimore acquired defensive back Alohi Gilman of Laie, Hawaii. Meanwhile, the top rated running back is the red hot Jonathan Taylor. He is projected to get 112 yards rushing and one touchdown on Sunday for the Indianapolis Colts against the Arizona Cardinals.
Projected Upsets
There are three underdogs I like this week. In week six I like the Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers. I successfully picked the Saints and Panthers to win in Week 5, and I like both teams chances on building their momentum.
