NFL Weekly Preview Week 14: Key Injuries, Player Statistical Projections & Possible Upsets
December 9, 2022

We are now headed into the 14th week of the NFL season. With about a month left, we now know many of the teams that are contending for a playoff spot and those that are rebuilding for next year.
Key Injuries
The biggest injury news heading into week 14 is regarding the Buffalo Bills. It was announced on Thursday that Bills star linebacker Von Miller would miss the remainder of the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in Buffalo’s 28-25 American Thanksgiving win over the Detroit Lions. Miller had 21 combined tackles (18 solo tackles and three assisted tackles), 12 quartertback hits, 10 tackles for a loss, two pass deflections and one forced fumble this season.
In Baltimore, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is out with a knee injury that he suffered in Baltimore’s 10-9 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Jackson, who was the 2019 NFL MVP, will be replaced in the lineup by Tyler Huntley.

Player Statistical Projections
Speaking of the Bills, Josh Allen is projected to be the number one quarterback of the week when Buffalo face the New York Jets. He is expected to rebound from a subpar performance in New York a month ago when he did not throw a touchdown pass. Now at home against New York, Allen is projected to throw 282 passing yards, 37 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
At running back, Derrick Henry is expected to rebound after a poor performance last week against the Philadelphia Eagles when he only had 38 rushing yards. This week against Jacksonville, Henry’s week 14 projections are 109 total yards (93 rushing yards and 16 receiving yards) and one touchdown.
At wide receiver, Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is a cautious number one. Even though he is projected to get eight catches for 110 yards and one touchdown against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, remember the fact that Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has been inconsistent despite Minnesota’s 10-2 record, and that Jefferson only had 14 receiving yards in week three against Detroit.

Possible Upset
With Jackson out with an injury, the Pittsburgh Steelers are now favoured to beat the Ravens in week 14. The Ravens defense has given up 41 fewer points than the Steelers this season, and have given up 13 points or fewer in three of their last four games. I still like Baltimore here.
