NFL Weekly Preview Week 13: Key Injuries, Player Statistical Projections & Possible Upsets
December 2, 2022
The 13th week of the 2022 NFL regular season kicks off on Thursday when the Buffalo Bills play the New England Patriots in Foxboro. Both teams should be fresh as they had a full week off. They were both playing on American Thanksgiving.
Key Injuries
According to nfl.com, on the same day that the Los Angeles Rams continued their disastrous season in losing 26-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs, Â Rams head coach Sean McVay announced that wide receiver Allen Robinson of Detroit, Michigan would miss the remainder of the season with foot surgery. in his first season with the Rams after four seasons each with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears, he had 33 catches for 339 yards and three touchdowns.
Another wide receiver is out for the year. Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney of Gadsden, Alabama needed surgery to repair torn ligaments in his ankle from an injury suffered in a 31-10 Bears loss to the New York Jets on Sunday.
Meanwhile, in San Francisco, running back Eli Mitchell has injured his MCL for the second time in 2022. He first injured his MCL in week one in a 19-10 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Player Statistical Projections
Patrick Mahomes needs to be considered the NFL Most Valuable Player after 12 weeks. He leads the NFL so far this season with 3585 passing yards and 29 passing touchdowns. In week 13, Mahomes is projected to get 313 passing yards, 21 rushing yards and three touchdowns against the Cincinnati Bengals.
At running back, Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns is expected to have a big day. In DeShaun Watson’s Browns debut against his old team, the Houston Texans, Chubb’s Sunday projections are 104 total yards (93 rushing yards and 11 receiving yards) and one touchdown.
At wide receiver, Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders is expected to have a big day against the Los Angeles Chargers despite some inconsistency in 2022. His projections are eight catches for 97 yards and one major score.

Possible Upset
There is one upset I like in week 13 and that is Chicago over Green Bay. Yes, the Bears will probably have Trevor Siemian rather than Justin Fields because of a shoulder injury. However, the Packers are going through injury woes themselves, as Aaron Rodgers is questionable with a rib ailment. The Bears are 3-9, but they have lost three of the last four gamed by a field goal or less.
