NBA Preview: January 9

The American sports world will be focused on the College Football Championship on Monday as Georgia is facing Texas Christian University. However, the NBA is still scheduling regular season games. Here are three games worth placing a bet on.

Milwaukee Bucks @ New York Knicks–7:30 PM ET

How can you not take Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in this one? Last week the Greek Freak had a career-high 55 points in a 123-113 win over the Washington Wizards. Yes the Knicks (22-18) are better than the Wizards (17-23), but Milwaukee is only one of only six teams in the NBA that is currently 11 games above .500 or better.

My pick:

The Bucks will rebound after an embarrassing 138-109 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Friday. In that game, Antetokounmpo only had nine points and four rebounds in 22 minutes. I like Milwaukee at +1, but take the over at 221.5. In their last game the Bucks were involved in a contest with 247 points. Join Our Championships Competition Members Can View Hub Here

Los Angeles Lakers @ Denver Nuggets–9 PM ET

The Nuggets are best in the West at 26-13 and the Lakers are 11th at 19-21. Denver has only lost three games at home, and are 8-2 in the last 10.

My pick:

Don’t let the five game-winning streak for the Lakers fool you. During the streak they have not had to face a team with the caliber of content as the Nuggets. I do like Denver here at -9.5, and the under at 241. Denver has been under 241 points in games they have played in their last four games.

Orlando Magic @ Sacramento Kings–10 PM ET

The Magic are 13th in the East at 15-25, while the Kings are fifth in the West at 20-18. Despite being 10 games below .500, the Magic won their last game as they beat Golden State 115-101 on Saturday.

My pick:

Orlando has only won five games on the road this season, so that is why I am taking Sacramento here. The Kings are 6.5 point favourites. The line at this time is 238.5. Take the under as the Magic and Kings have been involved in games under 238.5 points in three of their last four contests.
