Moonee Valley: Freedman Keen On Stable Pair At The Valley
January 20, 2023
Co-trainer Sam Freedman has an air of confidence concerning the prospects of his pair of runners at Moonee Valley on Saturday which are the sprinter Unflinching and the stayer Ain’tnodeeldun.
Freedman speaking on RSN on Friday morning said the Glen Orla Handicap (1000 metres) felt like the perfect race for Unflinching.
“He was a bit stiff at Sandown as he did all the work and was vulnerable at the finish and before that at Moonee Valley he was beaten by a good one.”
Freedman said from barrier two Unflinching would be ridden for speed on a track which suited him.
Sam and his father Anthony have been trying to entice Unflinching’s rider Amy McLucas to change her indentures from Sydney to them.
“We’ve been watching her in New South Wales and we’re impressed.”
Unflinching is a $1.85 favourite with TopSport.
McLucas will be having her first ride at Moonee Valley and it is her only mount for the day.
The stable also has the classy stayer Ain’tnodeeldun in the 2040 metres event and Freedman said if he can get a good tempo he would be hard to beat.
Freedman said Ain’tnodeeldun got cluttered up when fourth at Randwick on New Year’s Day over 2000 metres.
“He looks terrific. The query is whether the Valley I the right track but the key for him is to get his momentum up and keep on rolling,” Freedman said.
Ain’tnodeeldun is a $5 chance with TopSport.
