Melbourne Victory Sign Raul Baena

Melbourne Victory have signed Spanish midfielder Raul Baena on a one-year loan deal from Granada, subject to a medical clearance.

Raul Baena, a defensive midfielder, has more than 150 La Liga games under his belt and captained Segunda Division team Granada during the 2017/18 season.

Baena also represented Spain four times at under-17 level and once at under-21 level.

Victory coach Kevin Muscat described Baena as ‘‘a very well-rounded midfielder who also has great leadership qualities”.

“He is the kind of player who can control the tempo of a game with his work rate and passing,’’ Muscat said.

“I’m really pleased to have locked in so many quality additions with time to integrate them into the playing group.

If Baena passes his medical clearance he will join his Victory teammates next week.
