Little hoping for Chester Manifold success
January 7, 2021
Caulfield based trainer Colin Little is hoping his stable star Vassilator can take the next step in the Listed Chester Manifold at Flemington on Saturday.
The six-year-old gelding is going for back to back wins after his success over 1400 metres at Flemington last month.
“It’s a bit like Groundhog Day really isn’t it, just get out of bed go back to 1400 at Flemington”, said Little on RSN 927 this morning.
“I would prefer for him to be out a little bit [on drawing barrier 4], but there’s a fellow called D Oliver riding him so I don’t think it’ll be too much of a problem.”
Oliver stays onboard after regular rider Craig Williams chases Magic Millions success over the next two weeks up on the Gold Coast.
Connections have been waiting for the $140,000 feature as they believe the horse would be weighted nicely and Little expects him to make his presence felt.
“I’m pretty happy with him he had his last gallop on Tuesday, very contented, looked terrific when he pulled up and I think he’s pretty fit and happy.
“I’m sure he’ll be very competitive.”
Vassilator is currently a $9.00 chance on TopSport with the favourite Riding The Wave at $3.20.
