Knicks and Thunder advance to the Conference Finals in dominant fashion
May 20, 2025

We now know the four teams in the National Basketball Association Conference Finals. Joining the Indiana Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves are the New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder.
It should be no surprise that the Knicks are in the Eastern Finals. New York should have been considered the heavy favourite when Jayson Tatum ruptured his Achilles in game four. Even though the Celtics came through with a surprising 127-102 game five win, the Knicks were the dominant team in game six on Friday, as they won 119-81 to close out the series.
The Knicks were dominant in the first half at Madison Square Garden as they outscored the Celtics 64-37. Six Knicks reached double digits in scoring for the game. Guard Jalen Brunson of New Brunswick, New Jersey and OG Anunoby of London, Great Britain led the Knicks in scoring with 23 points each. Small forward Mikal Bridges of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania had 22 points, center Karl-Anthony Towns of Edison, New Jersey had 21 points, and shooting guard Josh Hart of Silver Spring, Maryland and point guard Miles McBride of Cincinnati, Ohio had 10 points each. Hart had a triple-double as he had 11 assists and 11 rebounds. Towns had 12 rebounds for the double-double.
The Thunder were just as dominant in their Sunday win over the Denver Nuggets in the seventh and deciding game. Five Thunder players reached double digits in scoring in a 125-93 victory. Canadian point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Toronto, Ontario led the Thunder in scoring with 35 points. Shooting guard Jalen Williams of Denver, Colorado had 24 points, center Chet Holmgren of Minneapolis, Minnesota had 13 points, guard Alex Caruso of College Station, Texas had 11 points, and center Isaiah Hartenstein of Eugene, Oregon had 10 points. Holmgren had the double-double as he added 11 rebounds.
