Lee had six birdies on her card and zero bogeys. She birdied the second, ninth, 11th, 13th, 14th, and 18th holes. Kupcho had nine birdies and three bogeys. She birdied the first, second, fourth, fifth, ninth, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th holes, and bogeyed the eighth, 15th, and 16th holes.
Lee is going for her second WTA title. She previously won the 2021 Evian Championship in France. Lee is currently fourth in the world, behind South Korea’s Jin Young Ko, American Nelly Korda, and Australian Minjee Lee. Korda is not at the Chevron Championship because of a blood clot in her arm.

Among the group of six who are three strokes back are Americans Annie Park, Lexi Thompson, Lauren Stephenson, and Sarah Schmelzel. France’s Pauline Roussin-Bouchard and Japan’s Hinako Shibuno are also at three-under-par.
