Jazz forward Joe Ingles out for the year with a torn ACL
February 2, 2022

According to Kevin Pelton of ESPN on Monday, Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles of Adelaide, Australia is out for the remainder of the 2021-22 National Basketball Association season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Due to the extent of the injury, Ingles is expected to miss a significant portion of the 2022-23 NBA regular season as well.
Ingles suffered the injury during the Jazz’s 126-106 upset loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday when his knee buckled. He was a starter in the contest, but did not have a bucket in 12 minutes and 27 seconds of action

After averaging 12.1 points per game in 2020-21 (tied for a career high) and finishing second to Jordan Clarkson for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award, it has been a down season for Ingles in 2021-22. Ingles was averaging only 7.2 points per game. He also had career lows in field goal percentage (.404), three-point percentage (.347). and steals per game (0.5).
There is also a strong possibility that Ingles might have played his final game for Utah. That is because he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. This past season, Ingles was making over $12 million.
The Jazz are ice cold at the moment. They have lost five games in a row. Their other four losses during the streak came in a narrow 94-92 loss to Golden State on January 23, in a 115-109 loss to the Phoenix Suns on January 24, a 105-97 loss to the Suns on January 26, and in a 119-109 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on January 28. However, the 20-point loss to Minnesota was the worst loss the Jazz franchise has had all season long.
