Jalen Green finding success from downtown for the Rockets
April 6, 2022

Jalen Green of the Houston Rockets has had a tremendous stretch of games and is delivering from three-point range. The 20-year-old rookie from Merced, California had 29 three-pointers in a five-game stretch from March 25 to April 1. That was the most number of three-points scored by a rookie over five consecutive games in NBA history.
On March 25, in a 125-106 Houston win in Portland, Green made five of 10 three-point attempts. He then made six three-point shots in four consecutive games, in a 115-98 Houston won in Portland against the Trail Blazers on March 26, in a 123-120 Houston loss to the San Antonio Spurs on March 28, in a 121-118 Houston loss to Sacramento on March 30, and in a 122-117 Houston loss to Sacramento on April 1.
During the five-game stretch, Green made 29 three-point shots in 64 attempts for a three-point shot percentage of .453. Â For the season has a three-point percentage of .343. He has made 149 three-point shots in 434 attempts.
The Rockets must be thrilled that Green, who was the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, (only behind Cade Cunningham by the Detroit Pistons), is showing tremendous progress. In 2021-22, he is averaging 16.8 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, and 2.6 assists per game. Green also has a field goal percentage of .421, and a free throw percentage of .803.
However the personal success that Green has had on the basketball court, has not translated into wins. The Rockets are last in the Western Conference with a record of 20 wins and 59 losses. They are in fact tied with the Orlando Magic for the worst record in the entire NBA.
