Jack Draper of London, England is missing the rest of the 2026 ATP season because of an arm injury according to Chris Oddo of tennisnow.com. The former world number four has been dealing with arm trouble since the 2025 United States Open when he had to withdraw from a match against Zizou Bergs of Belgium.
Draper did not play a single match at any of the four majors in 2026. As a result his world ranking has plummeted to 155th in the world.
It is not just Draper’s arm that has been giving him trouble. He was also dealing with a knee injury which forced him to miss a significant amount of time during the clay court season.
In 2026, Draper only won eight of 15 matches. Six of his wins came at two tournaments–Indian Wells (where Draper won in 2025), and Eastbourne. At Indian Wells, Draper beat 2019 Wimbledon semifinalist Roberto Bautista Agut (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) in the second round, Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina (6-1, 7-5) in the third round, and 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia (4-6, 6-4, 7-6) in the fourth round.
At Eastbourne, Draper reached the semifinals. He beat Marcos Giron of the United States 6-4, 7-6 in the first round, Jack Pinningon Jones of Great Britain 7-5, 6-4 in the second round, and Gabriel Diallo of Canada 6-1, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
There is no doubt that Draper can play at a high level when he is on the court. We are talking about the 2024 United States Open semifinalist. The problem in recent years has been staying healthy. Let’s see what transpires in 2027.
