British tennis star Jack Draper of London, England will not be competing at the 2026 French Open because of a knee injury according to Russell Fuller and Amy Lofthouse of the British Broadcasting Corporation on Wednesday. Draper was not competing at the Madrid Masters and also withdrew from next week’s Italian Open.
Draper only played one match during the clay court season, and could not complete the match. He played Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Argentina in the first round of the Barcelona Open, and lost 3-6, 6-3, 4-1. Interestingly, Draper was not the only player who played only one match at the Barcelona Open before withdrawing from the tournament. This is where Carlos Alcaraz of Spain injured his wrist, and it was later reported that Alcaraz will not be competing at the French Open either.
However, it should be noted that while it appears that Alcaraz injured his wrist in Barcelona, Draper has been dealing with injuries for a while. An arm injury forced him to miss withdraw from his second round match at the 2025 United States Open and the 2026 Australian Open.Â
Draper’s best grand slam result was making the semifinals of the 2024 United States Open. He is also known for winning Indian Wells in 2025.
On clay, Draper reached the fourth round of the 2025 French Open before losing to Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4. Draper reached the finals of Madrid last year before losing to Norway’s Casper Ruud, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. The 2025 Madrid Open was the last time Draper competed in an ATP final and the only time in Draper’s career he was in a final on clay.
