It is Heinicke time in Washington
Ryan Fitzpatrick left Sunday’s game with the Chargers with what has turned out to be a serious hip injury. He is on IR but it is very possible we do not see him again this season. That means that Taylor Heinicke will be the team’s starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. Personally I have never been a big Fitzpatrick fan – in terms of winning games. He is undoubtedly one of the most fun players to watch. Heinicke was excellent in an unexpected start in last season’s playoffs. It came in a loss to the Buccaneers but Washington arguably gave them the toughest fight of any team in the playoff run.

Turnover issues continue for Jones
Turnovers have plagued Daniel Jones time in New York and once again he cost the Giants last week. In just 28 career games he has 30 fumbles – 18 of them lost – and 22 interceptions. You just can’t win consistently when a quarterback does that. The Washington defence is fearsome and they have every chance to add to those numbers. Chase Young will be going after him all game long. He hits hard and if the Giants offensive line can’t slow him down it will be a long night for the Giants and the offence.
Saquon Barkley is back in the line up but he was limited last week. The Giants are working him back slowly and I expect that to continue tonight. They did not run the ball much last week but Devontae Booker could certainly be in line for some work here, particularly on a short week.

Take Washington to cover
Washington at 3.5 favourites and that is probably a good indication that Heinicke is not much of, if any of a downgrade from Fitzpatrick. The defence could be far too strong for the Giants and if the offence can just make some plays then it is hard for me to see New York staying in this one.
