FREE: Belmont Selections: Saturday 2nd July

Another really strong Saturday Belmont card highlighted by the listed Aquanita Stakes & Belmont Oaks. Conditions look perfect for racing, with the track expected to return to a Good 4 and the rail returning to the true position.

Race 1 – 12:01PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK PLATE (1000 METRES)

11. Truly Awesome – 1. Revitup – 7. Deetea – 2. Pot Shot

Truly Awesome

This filly on debut is a runner that interests me here for the Parnham’s. She’s a filly they paid 130,000 for at last year’s Magic Millions, she’s a really nice type and I really like the family, half to Tahitian Dancer and full to Rokanori. Thought her recent trial behind Aztec Ruler was just as impressive and arguably more professional than that runner’s and she is over double the quote here. She also gets the blinkers on which signals some intent here fresh and did show some tactical speed at her most recent trial to be able to hold a position, interested to see what the market does with her on debut but more than happy to have something small on here at the $8.00 on offer.

Race 6 – 3:10PM VALE ROGAN JOSH HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

1. Last Of The Line – 3. That’s Funny Az – 5. Startrade – 7. Sluice Box

Last Of The Line

He was my run of the meeting the last time we saw him. Beaten only 2L by Startrade there settling last from a wide barrier lugging the 62kgs fresh, thought it was a monster effort for a horse on the comeback from a pelvic fracture, SJ looks to have got him somewhere close to back to his best. He’s got a perfect 2nd up record in his career to date, so no doubt will have derived huge benefit from the run. Steps up to the mile, a distance Startrade for me is a big query at, gets a 2kg weight swing in his advantage on that runner and maps for a far better run in transit, with Startrade mapping to be last or near enough to from the draw. Although he does have to lug that same 62kgs again, I thought he showed well enough last start that he’s more than capable of doing so, ticks a lot of boxes for me and am confident he can turn the tables.

That’s Funny Az the big improver with the senior jockey going back on and the blinkers being applied. Taj was probably a little too cute with him last start, his strength is really rolling along out in front and breaking them open, Pat going back on a huge tick and think the blinkers can really sharpen him up. Will be left alone out in front and think he’s more than capable of pinching this too.

Sluice Box airborne, just under the odds for me currently losing McGruddy and stepping back to the mile from the 2200m. View PLAYUP Racing Markets Here

Race 7 – 3:45PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

6. Heart Of Coeur – 4. Ginger Flyer – 8. Gunmetal Grey – 5. Savage One

Heart Of Coeur

This bloke is completely flying and finally finds a race where there looks to be very genuine speed on paper. How close he was able to get to Billy Ray last start at the post, given where he settled and how slow the tempo of that race was, was remarkable. With the speed on here, I think it shapes very nicely for a horse that can settle back with a turn of foot to blouse them late, of the swoopers, he has to be the best chance. Just needs a good steer and the leaders to cut at each other out in front.

1 Unit EACH WAY

Think Ginger Flyer looks to have come back in superb order for Simon Miller. 2 very good trials in the lead up to this fresh assignment, to me she seems the one that can back out of that early speed battle and take a park on the leaders one out, one back and get that run of the race from where Holly is drawn, it’s a really great map for her. I think she will derive great benefit from this fresh hitout, but with the run she’s going to get I still think she’s a great winning chance in an open race View PLAYUP Racing Markets Here

Race 8 – 4:20PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

3. Nowhiteflag – 5. Beads – 4. Flying Missile – 10. Mantelli

Nowhiteflag

What a high pressure beast this bloke is! Almost ruled him out last start when he was only able to land in the breeze but the faster they went, the faster he went and he was just so strong through the line. Unless they really kick up with Flying Missile, he should be able to find the fence this time and is far more trustworthy this prep with leaving the barriers clean, he’s really matured as a racehorse
Pont sticks and is riding super, although he takes a step up in grade here, I think he looks very difficult to beat again and will certainly only go better back onto a dry surface, on top of the ground.

Beads loomed like he was going to go past Nowhiteflag last start but perhaps just peaked on his run a fraction? Another run under the belt and he should be just about ready to peak now. Maps for the absolute run of the race, gets a 2kg swing on Nowhiteflag, certainly going to get his chance to square the ledger if good enough

Flying Missile the big improver. Has had apprentices on at both starts this preparation, badly needed the run fresh before being trapped wide throughout last start and thought his work through the line in a strong 3yo event was super. Gets a senior back on, 4kgs of weight relief off his back, maps to land right on the towball of the speed, right in the game here too. View PLAYUP Racing Markets Here
