National Football League offensive lineman Rob Havenstein of Mount Airy, Maryland retired on Tuesday at the age of 33 according to the Associated Press. Havenstein spent his entire National Football League career with the Rams organization. He was initially with the St. Louis Rams, in their final season in the state of Missouri, before the team relocated to southern California.
Havenstein played 148 games in the National Football League overall. He was with the St. Louis Rams for 13 games, and with the Los Angeles Rams for 135 games. Havenstein was part of the Rams team that won Super Bowl LVI. On February 13, 2022, the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. This particular Super Bowl was noteworthy because it was only the second Super Bowl ever where the champion won the Vince Lombardi Trophy in their home stadium.
Initially selected in the second round, 57th overall, by the Rams in the 2015 NFL Draft, Havenstein played five seasons at the University of Wisconsin. He was part of a Badgers program, that has recently been known for their excellent women’s ice hockey team.
In the regular season over the years, Havenstein has nine fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, two combined tackles (one solo tackle and one assisted tackle). The assisted tackle came in a 31-27 Rams win over the Atlanta Falcons on September 18, 2022.
Meanwhile, in the postseason, Havenstein had two solo tackles in 13 postseason games. The first came in a 30-27 Rams win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on January 23, 2022, and the second came in a 20-17 Rams win over the San Francisco 49ers in the 2022 NFC Championship.
