Five-way tie for the lead after round one of the 2025 British Open

There are five golfers tied for the lead at the 2025 British Open in Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland after the first round. The five players at -4 are American Harris English of Valdosta, Georgia, Denmark’s Jacob Skov Olesen, China’s Haotong Li, England’s Matt Fitzpatrick (2022 United States Open champion), and South Africa’s Christiaan Bezuidenhout.
English had seven birdies and three bogeys. He birdied the first, second, fourth, sixth, seventh, 11th, and 12th holes, and bogeyed the fifth, ninth, and 14th holes.
Olesen had one eagle, four birdies and two bogeys. He birdied the first, seventh, 10th, and 15th holes, eagled the par-five 12th hole, and bogeyed the eighth and 18th holes.
Li had four birdies and zero bogeys. He birdied the fifth, seventh, 10th, and 17th holes.
Fitzpatrick had one eagle, three birdies and one bogey. He birdied the sixth, 12th, and 16th holes, bogeyed the third hole, and eagled the second hole.
Bezuidenhout also had one eagle, three birdies and one bogey. He eagled the 12th hole, birdied the fifth, sixth, and seventh holes, and bogeyed the 11th hole.
There is four-way tie for sixth place at -3. There you can find world number one and three-time major winner (2022 and 2024 Masters and 2025 PGA Championship) Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey, England’s Matthew Jordan and Tyrrell Hatton, and Thailand’s Sadom Kaewkanjana.
There are 10 golfers at -2 and in 10th place. They are the Danish twin brothers Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard, 2013 United States Open champion Justin Rose of England, Aaron Rai of England, Lee Westwood of England, 2023 British Open champion Brian Harman of Savannah, Georgia, American Rickie Fowler of Murrieta, California, American Maverick McNealy of Portolla Valley, California, 2009 United States Open champion Lucas Glover of Greenville, South Carolina, and South Korea’s Tom Kim.
There are 12 golfers at -1 and in 20th place.
