EPL Week 25 Preview: Stats, Insights & Everything You Need To Know

February 8, 2019

By Lindsay

We are able to find five winners last week but with another huge week of EPL action ahead we’re looking for more. See below for stats, insights, what you didn’t know about your club & everything else you need to know about your teams chances.

FULHAM VS MANCHESTER UNITED – SATURDAY 9 FEBRUARY, 12:30PM, CRAVEN COTTAGE

Fulham

Last 5 Matches: LLLLWL
Ladder Position: 19th
Goal Difference: -30 (GF 25, GA 55)

United

Last 5 Matches: WWWDW
Ladder Position: 5th
Goal Difference: +14 (GF 49, GA 35)

Fulham is slowly finding ways to improve, taking points from four of its last eight matches but it’s going to be a whole other test when Manchester United comes to town.

United’s last Premier League loss came on December 17, a week after crushing then bottom placed Fulham 4-1 at Old Trafford.

Perhaps the only thing that might slow United down in this one is the looming Champions League clash with one of the few clubs that can make the Red Devils look poor, PSG.

Did You Know?

Fulham are aiming to win back-to-back Premier League home matches for the first time since April 2013.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in 12 of Manchester United’s last 15 EPL matches as a favourite.
  • Across all competitions, Manchester United is undefeated in its last 11 matches against Fulham.
  • Marcus Rashford has been the first goal-scorer in three of Manchester United’s last four EPL away matches.

TIP: United

CRYSTAL PALACE VS WEST HAM – SUNDAY 10 FEBRUARY, 3:00PM, SELHURST PARK

Palace

Last 5 Matches: WLLDW
Ladder Position: 14th
Goal Difference: -7 (GF 26, GA 33)

West Ham

Last 5 Matches: DWLLD
Ladder Position: 12th
Goal Difference: -7 (GF 31, GA 38)

Able to hold Liverpool to a 1-1 draw on Monday night, West Ham will look to continue its momentum when Crystal Palace awaits across London at Selhurst Park. The Hammers are likely to bring confidence to Selhurst Park given they have not lost any of their last seven EPL matches against Palace, including a 3-2 result at the London Stadium during December.

Even so, the Eagles should not be discounted on Saturday afternoon if recent home form is to go by, with a 2-0 triumph over Fulham last time out in the league adding to their victory by the same scoreline against Tottenham in the FA Cup.

Did You Know?

The Hammers can win a fourth consecutive PL London derby for the first time since February 1996. Their current run of victories in the capital started against Palace in December.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in eight of Crystal Palace’s last nine EPL day matches as a favourite.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has failed to hit in eight of Crystal Palace’s last nine EPL matches as a home favourite.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has failed to hit in each of West Ham’s last four EPL day matches.

TIP: Crystal Palace

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN VS ARSENAL – SUNDAY 10 FEBRUARY, 2:00AM, JOHN SMITH’S STADIUM

Huddersfield

Last 5 Matches: LDLLL
Ladder Position: 20th
Goal Difference: -33 (GF 13, GA 46)

Arsenal

Last 5 Matches: WLWWL
Ladder Position: 6th
Goal Difference: +15 (GF 51, GA 36)

As expected, Arsenal dropped to a loss away to Manchester City starting off what was a pretty rough day for its owner Stan Kroenke, whose LA Rams side also lost the Super Bowl.

The Gunners look to bounce back from that disappointment when they host a Huddersfield side that has won twice all season and is coming off a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Chelsea.

It was a tight clash at the Emirates in early December with just the one goal in it but there should be a few more in this one.

Did You Know?

Huddersfield are looking for their first victory in 12 competitive matches against Arsenal (D2 L9), with their last win coming back in January 1971.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Over 3.5 Goals’ market has hit in four of Arsenal’s last five EPL day matches.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has hit in 11 of Arsenal’s last 12 EPL away matches.
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored five goals in Arsenal’s last five EPL matches as a favourite.

TIP: Arsenal -1.0

LIVERPOOL VS BOURNEMOUTH – SUNDAY 10 FEBRUARY, 3:00PM, ANFIELD

Liverpool

Last 5 Matches: LWWDD
Ladder Position: 2nd
Goal Difference: +41 (GF 56, GA 15)

Bournemouth

Last 5 Matches: DLWWL
Ladder Position: 10th
Goal Difference: -7 (GF 37, GA 44)

Once again stumbling in the title race on Monday, Liverpool will need to respond when Bournemouth visits Anfield on Saturday afternoon. The Reds’ 1-1 draw at West Ham last time out in the Premiership did not come without controversy, with Sadio Mane’s opener assisted by James Milner from an offside position.

That result comes after a 1-1 draw against Leicester at Anfield, meaning the Reds have now dropped points in three of their last five league outings. Even so, Liverpool will be heavily favoured to return to the winners list against a Bournemouth side that most recently fell 2-0 at relegation-threatened Cardiff City. That result continued the Cherries’ dismal seven-match losing run away from home in the EPL which includes an aggregate scoreline of 20-3.

[adrotate banner=”56″]

Did You Know?

Liverpool drew their last Premier League home match against Leicester City but haven’t gone two matches without a win there since December 2017.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Over 3.5 Goals’ market has hit in four of Liverpool’s last five EPL matches at Anfield.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has hit in five of Liverpool’s last six EPL matches.
  • Mohamed Salah has scored four goals in Liverpool’s last four EPL home matches.

TIP: Liverpool -1.0

SOUTHAMPTON VS CARDIFF – SUNDAY 10 FEBRUARY, 3:00PM, ST MARY’S STADIUM

Southampton

Last 5 Matches: DWWDD
Ladder Position: 16th
Goal Difference: -15 (GF 27, GA 42)

Cardiff

Last 5 Matches: LDLLW
Ladder Position: 18th
Goal Difference: -24 (GF 22, GA 46)

This looks like being a reasonably competitive fixture and a case to be made for both clubs. The Saints are undefeated through their five most-recent matches but meet a Cardiff side that is playing with plenty of heart and who recorded an emotional win over Bournemouth last week.

[adrotate banner=”92″]

Did You Know?

Cardiff are looking to record a third consecutive victory over Southampton in all competitions for the first time since March 1963.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in five of Southampton’s last six EPL home matches.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has hit in each of Southampton’s last seven EPL home matches.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score in the Second Half’ market has hit in four of Southampton’s last six EPL day matches.

TIP: Southampton

WATFORD VS EVERTON – SUNDAY 10 FEBRUARY, 3:00PM, VICARAGE ROAD

Watford

Last 5 Matches: DWDLD
Ladder Position: 8th
Goal Difference: -1 (GF 33, GA 34)

Everton

Last 5 Matches: WLWLL
Ladder Position: 9th
Goal Difference: -2 (GF 36, GA 38)

Everything about this game screams bad spot for Everton.

Coming off their midweek clash with Manchester City, the Toffees now have to deat with a Watford side that will no doubt be high on confidence.

With one point between these sides (before Everton’s first game this week), this should be a good marker for both teams.

[adrotate banner=”78″]

Did You Know?

Everton are looking to win a second consecutive PL away fixture for the first time since September 2016.

Betting Insights

  • Watford average 1.3 goal per game.
  • Both teams average over 2.5 goals per game.
  • Clashes at Vicarage Road average a total of 2.8 goals.

TIP: Watford

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION VS BURNLEY – SUNDAY 10 FEBRUARY, 4:30AM, AMEX STADIUM

Brighton

Last 5 Matches: DLLLD
Ladder Position: 13th
Goal Difference: -9 (GF 27, GA 36)

Burnley

Last 5 Matches: WWDDD
Ladder Position: 17th
Goal Difference: -20 (GF 26, GA 46)

Mat Ryan’s Brighton snapped a three-game losing streak last weekend and are offered a great opportunity to return to winning form, at the expense of Burnley.

Burnley’s three straight wins have been followed by three straight draws but there is not a lot of opportunity to enjoy that streak with just two points keeping them above the relegation zone.

It’s worth remembering that this Burnley side did finish seventh last season and still has plenty of quality in it.

[adrotate banner=”127″]

Did You Know?

Brighton will be looking for their first goal in four PL matches against Burnley.

Betting Insights

  • Burnley are unbeaten in their last six league matches against Brighton, although the first five meetings in this run ended level.
  • Chris Wood has scored five goals in his last eight league starts against Brighton, but he has failed to find the net in five of the last six.

TIP: Brighton

TOTTENHAM VS LEICESTER CITY – MONDAY 11 FEBRUARY, 1:30PM, WEMBLEY STADIUM

Spurs

Last 5 Matches: WLWWW
Ladder Position: 3rd
Goal Difference: +27 (GF 51, GA 24)

Leicester

Last 5 Matches: WLLDL
Ladder Position: 11th
Goal Difference: -1 (GF 30, GA 31)

Tottenham Hotspur will be going for a fourth successive Premier League victory as they attempt to close the five-point gap to table-topping Manchester City and Liverpool.

Leicester City are looking for their first win in five league matches.

[adrotate banner=”78″]

Did You Know?

Spurs have set a new PL record after going 29 matches without a draw. The last top-flight team to have a longer run were Portsmouth between March 1928 and February 1929, with 38 matches.

Betting Insights

  • Son Heung-min has had a hand in five goals in his last two PL starts against Leicester, scoring three times and assisting twice.
  • Leicester’s Jamie Vardy has been directly involved in seven goals in his last seven PL appearances against Spurs, netting four goals and providing three assists.

TIP: Spurs

[adrotate banner=”39″]

MANCHESTER CITY VS CHELSEA – MONDAY 11 FEBRUARY, 4:00PM, ETIHAD STADIUM

City

Last 5 Matches: WWLWW
Ladder Position: 1st
Goal Difference: +48 (GF 68, GA 20)

Chelsea

Last 5 Matches: DWLLW
Ladder Position: 4th
Goal Difference: +22 (GF 45, GA 23)

The first of two meetings between theses in the space of the week ahead of the Carabao Cup Final.

Chelsea righted the ship in the best way possible with a 5-0 win after two straight losses and they do have the confidence of being the first team to beat City this season.

The Cityzens managed to leapfrog Liverpool into top spot after beating Everton midweek, but the Reds still do have a game in hand.

[adrotate banner=”92″]

Did You Know?

Man City can set a PL record by scoring at least twice in a 15th successive home match. They are currently tied on 14 with Liverpool, who achieved that feat in 2013/14.

Betting Insights

  • The Blues, who won the reverse fixture this season, have done the double over Man City on 10 occasions in the Premier League, more than any other side.
  • Clashes at Etihad Stadium average a total of 4.2 goals.

TIP: City

[adrotate banner=”5″]

WOLVERHAMPTON VS NEWCASTLE – TUESDAY 12 FEBRUARY, 8:00PM, MOLINEUX STADIUM

Wolves

Last 5 Matches: LLWWW
Ladder Position: 7th
Goal Difference: +1 (GF 33, GA 32)

Newcastle

Last 5 Matches: LLWWL
Ladder Position: 15th
Goal Difference: -12 (GF 21, GA 33)

Wolves are on a three game winning run, the equal longest in the Premier League at the moment.

In that time they have been one of the most entertaining sides to watch, scoring 11 goals as their attack really starts to gel.

This represents a great chance to further solidify their position in seventh place on the table and a repeat of their 2-1 over Newcastle at St James’ Park earlier this season would go down very well.

[adrotate banner=”127″]

Did You Know?

Wolves, who won December’s reverse fixture, are looking to achieve a league double over Newcastle for the first time since 1991/92.

Betting Insights

  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market has hit in each of Wolverhampton’s last four EPL matches.
  • The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has failed to hit in seven of Wolverhampton’s last eight EPL matches as a home favourite.
  • Raul Jimenez has scored three goals in Wolverhampton’s last two matches.

TIP: Wolves
