Eagles have to make Week 16 quarterback change
December 24, 2022
The National Football League will have 11 of its 16 games played on Saturday this weekend due to the fact Christmas Day lands on a Sunday. One of the originally elite games on the schedule for Saturday afternoon is not necessarily elite anymore because of an injury to the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss Philadelphia’s game in Dallas because of a right shoulder injury according to Chris Bumbaca of USA Today. Hurts has been an instrumental part of the Philadelphia offense in 2022, and a major reason why the Eagles won their first eight games.
In Hurts’s place is Gardner Minshew of Flowood, Mississippi. Minshew has not started a game for the Eagles in 2022 after starting two games for Philadelphia in 2021. He has previously started 20 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 and 2020, and only had a record of seven wins and 13 losses. In three games in a non-starting role this season with the Eagles, Minshew completed two of four passes for 34 yards.

The Eagles have beaten the Cowboys once already this season. On October 16, Philadelphia came through with a Sunday night primetime win by a score of 26-17. A major reason why Dallas did not come through in that one is because the Cowboys were not able to start Dak Prescott because of a thumb injury. Cooper Rush got the start instead of Prescott, and threw three interceptions.
The Eagles can clinch first place in the NFC East with a win. Philadelphia is at 13 wins and one loss, while the Dallas Cowboys are at 10 wins and four losses.
